No. I was a Manhattanite. I lived four miles up from the Fillmore east. I just hopped on the Lexington Ave local and got off at either Astor place (for the Fillmore East or Bleecker st. for everything else. The Cafe Au GoGo was on Bleecker. the Village proper was similar to the Haight, only pricier.

Managed to find my way to the Village in '72, don't really remember much about it tho, other than it was a bad idea to walk from my friends apartment on West 83rd to get there.

actually, I waited two years after high school to go to college, worked, saved money, enrolled for the fall '67 semester, got zero classes I wanted, so.... ROAD TRIP !!
